Swatch Watches
As a child, I can still remember when Swatch watches came on the market. Their bright colors and youthful design were in such contrast to the more traditional watches that our parents had bought us. Even the new fangled LED watches seemed boring when one looked at the new Swatch watches some of my school mates were wearing. Pretty soon we all had one. There were hundreds of cool designs to chose from.
Buying a Swatch watch meant buying something unique; no one else had your watch. We compared and appraised each others Swatch watches. They were funky but cheap to buy. They almost had that throw away, disposable look to them. Buy we never threw them away. When we got bored of the Swatch we had, we saved our pennies and went out and bought another. I can still remember the kid who had the biggest collection of Swatch watches; we all envied him.
That was quite some time ago but I'm pleased to see that Swatch watches are as popular as ever. They're a great watch for kids. Swatch watches come in bright colors and wacky designs. Swatch is shock-resistant, precise, ultra robust, extremely reliable and water-resistant; almost kid-proof! Parents are pleased by the price and with batteries that last anywhere between 3 to 4 years. We have two children of our own. They can't tell the time yet but soon, they too, will want a watch of their own, and I'd be surprised if it wasn't a Swatch they wanted.
But Swatch watches aren't just for kids. Many adults also appreciate the trendy designs and low-price of Swatch watches. The low price means that if you loose, break or simply get bored of your Swatch, you can easily replace it with the latest model. And there are hundreds of designs to choose from!
Swatch watches are always different but remain recognizable as being Swatch. As kids we want to have our own Swatch. A Swatch watch is one of the first possessions many children take pride in owning. I look forward to the day when my children choose the Swatch watch they want. I'll be just as excited about the colors and designs of the watches as they will be.
